The head of the Pasteur Institute of Iran says that the research institution has been targeted by the US and Israeli terrorists three times since the beginning of the US-Israeli war against Iran.
The latest attack occurred on April 2, causing significant damage to some departments including the cell bank, as well as malaria, clinical, and biotechnology research centers.
“It is clear that targeting health and pharmaceutical centers reflects the enemy’s irrational approach, representing an attempt to damage the public health,” Ehsan Mostafavi told IRNA.
“Fortunately, no staff members were harmed in these attacks. Furthermore, due to precautions taken in advance, there is no microbial or chemical threat to the surrounding environment or the public.”
“Currently, the institute’s specialized and production services to the national health system including vaccination services, diagnostic laboratory services, and the distribution of diagnostic kits across the public health laboratory network continue non-stop,” Mostafavi further noted.
He said that the reconstruction of the Pasteur Institute would begin soon after the war to ensure no disruption in the services provided by the institute.
