AhlulBayt News Agency: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that “the eight-year Sacred Defense in the 1980s was, on one hand, a proud test of the Iranian nation’s bravery, faith, resilience, and military innovations; and on the other, a scene of oppression, isolation, and the endurance of mental and physical pain”.
The Leader made the remarks on Friday in a message to the National Congress for the “Martyrs of Captivity” held in the holy city of Mashhad.
Ayatollah Khamenei described these martyrs as a symbol of the Iranian nation’s oppression and isolation alongside their bravery, faith, and resilience during the Sacred Defense era.
He emphasized, “Holding such a commemoration is an act of veneration for steadfastness.”
