Thailand: Religious leaders dialogue a new path toward achieving peace

The Iranian cultural attaché in Thailand described dialogue among religious leaders as a path toward achieving peace.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Iranian cultural attaché in Thailand described dialogue among religious leaders as a path toward achieving peace.

Mehdi Zare Beieyb met with the Vatican’s ambassador to Thailand and discussed ways to expand interfaith dialogue and cultural cooperation between the two sides.

He emphasized cooperation between divine religions and noted that Prophet Jesus (AS) also holds a high position in Islam and Muslims consider him a prophet of peace, love, and morality.

These deep commonalities provide a solid foundation for dialogue and cooperation between divine religions, he stated.

Referring to the recent international interfaith dialogue held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Thailand, he said the active participation of the Vatican embassy in this event was very valuable and showed that the Vatican does not consider interfaith dialogue a marginal issue, but rather considers it a moral responsibility in today’s world.

“Today, more than ever, we are witnessing the decline of morality, humanity, and spirituality in the world, and we believe that divine religions, especially Islam and Christianity, can play an effective role in restoring these values to human life by relying on their moral commonalities,” he stated.

He also proposed holding a new meeting in the field of interfaith dialogue with a special focus on Islam, Christianity, and Buddhism, and said holding such a meeting, with the participation of intellectuals and religious leaders, can help deepen mutual understanding and correct many stereotypes and misconceptions.

The Vatican ambassador, for his part, said, “We are also very pleased with this cooperation and consider the interfaith dialogue event a positive and hopeful starting point. In a world facing war, extremism, and religious misunderstandings, honest dialogue between religious leaders can open a new path towards peace and coexistence.”

He also welcomed the holding of a meeting in the field of interfaith dialogue with a special focus on Islam, Christianity, and Buddhism, saying, “We fully support this idea and the Vatican is ready to cooperate in this direction, and we can even utilize the capacity of churches, Christian universities, and scientific centers affiliated with the Vatican to host or provide scientific support for these meetings.”
