AhlulBayt News Agency: The general assembly of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought was held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur with representatives of member states and Muslim elites from southeast Asian countries in attendance.
Speaking at this meeting, the Secretary General of Iran’s major Islamic unity center explained the strategic charter of the general assembly on the axis of ‘Islamic Ummah and Unified Civilization Identity’ Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari counted the scientific roadmap of the Islamic nation, networking of the intellectuals, joint production of knowledge, eliminating religious disagreements, confrontation with Takfiri movements, social competence, role of media and arts as well as institutional convergence in the world of Islam among the paragraphs of the charter.
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, the president of Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM), for his part, referred to the current developments across the globe and said,” Islamic proximity is not a temporary necessity but a religious mandate and a shared responsibility for all Muslims.
Molavi Es’haq Madani, the chairman of the Supreme Council at World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought also highlighted key role of the Muslim scholars in boosting Islamic unity emphasizing the necessity of dialogue, mutual respect among Islamic denominations and confrontation with extremist movements.
Also at this meeting, 15 scholars and Muslim thinkers were appointed as the members of the general assembly.
Concluding the first meeting of the general assembly of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in a decree by Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Habibullah Arzani was appointed as the representative of the Islamic unity center in southeast Asia.
The cleric made the comments ahead of the international conference entitled ‘Unity of Islamic Ummah and Palestine’ co-organized by a number of world pro-Palestine organizations to be held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
