AhlulBayt News Agency: A number of Quran memorizers and reciters and Quranic scholars from Iran and Iraq took part in the gathering, organized by the custodianship of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) holy shrine in cooperation with the Holy Quran International Center and Al-Dalil Institute.
Named after legendary Egyptian Quran reciter late Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, it began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Iranian reciter Karim Mansouri.
It included playing a video clip featuring Abdul Basit’s life and Quranic achievements.
Then there were speeches by Sayyed Mahdi Bahrololoum and Hassan al-Mansouri, officials with the Astan of Imam Hussein holy shrine.
Hojatoleslam Rezaei Esfehani, a Quranic scholar and interpreter also addressed the gathering, elaborating on strategies to promote the Holy Quran in the world through research, education and propagation activities.
These activities include developing Quran recitation and memorization programs, efforts to promote Quranic concepts, Quran translation and Quran interpretation, spreading Quranic centers, holding international Quran competitions and supporting Quranic arts, networks, books and news agencies.
He said the path to liberation from new colonialism is through change and evolution in human sciences and the best way for that is via the Holy Quran.
