AhlulBayt News Agency: In order to revive and preserve the Islamic heritage of the Bulgarian Muslim community, a public library has been opened to serve the Muslim community in the south of the country.
In a move that reflects the growing awareness of the importance of preserving the Islamic heritage and intellectual memory of the Bulgarian Muslim community, the new library was launched in the Pazardzhik region, located in southern Bulgaria.
It has begun its activities to serve the Muslim community, researchers and those interested in Islamic cultural affairs, the Muslimsaroundtheworld website reported.
The library has received valuable donations. The donations provided to the library came from the Deputy Mufti of the District, the imam of the mosque, and members of the Local Islamic Council in Peshtera.
The donations included a collection of rare scientific data-x-items that will enrich the library’s resources and enhance its role as an open space for knowledge accessible to the public.
Among the most notable donated data-x-items is a rare manuscript of a translation of the Holy Quran, which is still undergoing scientific examination to determine the exact date of its writing. There are also a number of original Islamic works in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish, written by Muslim scholars who lived in Bulgaria in successive historical periods. This gives the library an extraordinary scientific and documentary value.
The Pazardzhik District Mufti’s Office expressed its deep gratitude to the residents of Peshtera for this pioneering scientific initiative, which demonstrates a significant increase in the richness of the new library and the spirit of social responsibility and commitment to supporting scientific and cultural activities in the Muslim community.
The Mufti of Pazardzhik emphasized that these financial donations are a fundamental pillar of the project of preserving local Islamic memory and documenting the contributions of Muslim scholars in Bulgaria.
He noted that the new library aims to play an educational and intellectual role, serve researchers, students and members of the Muslim community, and strengthen the presence of Islamic culture in the public sphere.
He called on members of the Muslim community, both within and outside the region, to participate in supporting the new library through scientific and cultural donations, thereby helping to develop its content, strengthen its educational and promotional mission, and preserve the Islamic heritage in Bulgaria for future generations.
