Arab Ministers condemn Israel’s blockade of West Bank visit

Foreign ministers from five Arab nations have strongly criticized Israel for blocking their planned visit to the occupied West Bank, where they were scheduled to meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Foreign ministers from five Arab nations have strongly criticized Israel for blocking their planned visit to the occupied West Bank, where they were scheduled to meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday.

According to IRNA, the delegation, which included representatives from Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, was set to travel alongside Turkey and the Arab League’s Secretary-General. However, Israeli authorities prevented their entry, drawing condemnation from regional leaders.

In a statement, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry denounced Israel’s decision to ban the delegation’s visit to Ramallah to meet with the president of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas.

Tensions have been high in the West Bank, with Israeli forces conducting frequent raids in Palestinian towns and cities, resulting in deadly clashes.

The planned visit was part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s broader initiative to gain international recognition for Palestinian statehood as Israel’s war on Gaza continues, now in its 603rd day. More than 54,000 Palestinians have been killed, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.

Bin Salman has sought to persuade Western nations, particularly the United States, to formally recognize Palestine. Saudi officials believe France will take that step in June.
