AhlulBayt News Agency - During the evening hours, 30 Russian airstrikes and hundreds of Syrian artillery shells smashed the town of Khan Touman in southern Aleppo.

A total of 8 Russian jets and 2 Syrian jets participated in the air raid.

Meanwhile, government reinforcements are pouring in to the outskirts of the town as an upcoming offensive seems inevitable.

At midnight today, a temporal ceasefire officially ended in Aleppo which in turn will allow the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to resume its operations to retake Khan Touman.

However, no SAA ground movements have taken place just yet although government forces are now fully mobilized for the attack alongside Iranian paramilitary fighters.

Due to immense pressure, Islamist rebels might very well leave the town as to preemptively prevent further dead fighters among their ranks.

Khan Touman was captured by extremist rebels 6 days ago in a surprise move that had them retake the town which was otherwise captured by the SAA in late December, 2015.
