AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – backed by Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary), military advisors of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), and Liwaa Al-Badr (Badr Brigade) – launched their highly anticipated southern Aleppo offensive on Sunday morning after losing the strategic town of Khan Touman to the extremist rebels just 48 hours prior.
Unlike the previous attacks on Tal Al-‘Eiss, the battle for southern Aleppo today is not limited to one town, but rather, a large number villages and hilltops that are currently under extremist rebel control.
So far, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies have not made any substantial gains in southern Aleppo; however, the attack also began one hour ago, so it is not uncommon to see a lack of progress at this time.
The most intense firefights are currently taking place at Al-Rashiddeen, where the Syrian Armed Forces are attempting to advance along the three major zones.
