AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jund Al-Aqsa” launched a powerful overnight assault in the northern Hama countryside, targeting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) controlled villages of Taybat Al-Imam, Al-Buwaydah, Al-Masasanah, and Ma’rkabah near the Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway).
So far, Jund Al-Aqsa has been able to capture a number of checkpoints from the Syrian Armed Forces; however, they have not yet seized any of the aforementioned villages this morning.
If the Syrian Armed Forces are unable to hold on, they will be in serious trouble as Jund Al-Aqsa will be within striking distance of Ma’an, Souran, and Halfaya; these are large villages that lead to Hama City.
According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) has been conducting airstrikes over Jund Al-Aqsa’s positions for several hours tonight, but this has not forestalled the Jihadist advance.
