Several villages in southeast Aleppo recaptured by Syrian Army

The recent arrival of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements to the Khanasser Plains has paved the way for a counter-offensive against the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in southeast Aleppo.

AhlulBayt News Agency - The recent arrival of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements to the Khanasser Plains has paved the way for a counter-offensive against the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in southeast Aleppo.

On Saturday evening, the Syrian Arab Army – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – liberated the village of “Burj Al-‘Atshanah” and its surrounding mountain top “Jabal Al-Qali’yat” after a fierce battle with ISIS.

As a result of this counter-assault, the Syrian Armed Forces have been able to push back the ISIS terrorists to the Duraham Oil Field, where they are currently involved in a violent battle.

The Syrian Armed Forces’ southeast Aleppo offensive in late February proved to be an important military endeavor, as they were able to create an important buffer-zone along their only supply line to the provincial capital from Hama.
