Ansarullah: Saudi Arabia Continues Attacks on Yemeni Forces Despite Ceasefire

Spokesman of Yemen's Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdulsalam announced that the Saudi-led forces continue the war in Yemen despite the ceasefire in the Arab country.

Spokesman of Yemen's Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdulsalam announced that the Saudi-led forces continue the war in Yemen despite the ceasefire in the Arab country.

"Unfortunately, the other side (Saudi Arabia) is continuing the war and reinforcing its forces," the Arabic-language al-Rai newspaper quoted Abdulsalam as saying on Saturday.

Abdulsalam reminded that the Saudi continued attacks happen as the priority of the peace talks in Kuwait is cessation of hostilities.

He further stressed that popular forces would like to see the rise to power of an all-inclusive government that will help resolve the political differences through national dialogue.

On April 7, Ansarullah movement announced a ceasefire in several border regions with Saudi Arabia.

The move coincided with a call by the UN special envoy for Yemen for a total ceasefire across the county to allow for humanitarian relief and is aimed at setting the stage for upcoming political talks among Yemeni groups.

The truce was announced by the UN special envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as a step to calm the situation ahead of negotiations between the warring sides scheduled to be held in Kuwait on April 18.

Saudi Arabia has been waging a war on Yemen since late March 2015 in a bid to reinstate Hadi and undermine the Ansarullah movement, which took over state matters after Hadi resigned.

Over 9,400 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the Saudis' deadly military campaign.
