IRAQ - AhlulBayt News Agency - After Kurdish Peshmerga forces repelled multiple attacks by the so-called Islamic State (IS) near Mosul on Friday, a Peshmerga commander revealed that the offensives were carried out by foreign IS insurgents.
Zaim Ali said that the Peshmerga forces received intelligence prior to the attack and they were ready to ward out the takfiris effectively.
He revealed that an Uzbek national commander of IS was leading the assault in which most of the terrorists were foreigners.
IS militants conducted multiple attacks against Peshmerga on Aske Mosul, Keske and Shndukhan frontlines on March 4th. The Kurdish forces, backed by the international coalition forces defeated every attack and inflicted the extremists with high casualties.
According to some Peshmerga sources, nearly 100 IS terrorists were killed during the confrontations around Mosul where most of the corpses are left behind by the retreating insurgents.
Ali also revealed that 28 Peshmerga were slightly injured, but their condition is reportedly stable.
Kurdistan Region President released a statement after the success to highlight the bravery of Kurdish Peshmerga forces, saying that they once again scored a glorious victory.
