Senior Sunni Imam: 'Election hopefuls should refrain from defacing each other'

“Election hopefuls should consider election linked code of ethics, refraining from defacing each other,” said one of prominent Sunni cleric.

AhlulBayt News Agency - Mamousta Abdorrahman Khalifeh Zadeh, the Friday Prayer leader of Boukan, demanded parliament election hopefuls to “consider election linked code of ethics, refraining from defacing each other, and deceiving people by false promises.”
 
Beckoned to coming elections for the 5th Assembly of Experts as well as the 10th Majlis (parliament), the religious cleric counted partking in the event as the public obligations which in turn foil the plots hatched by enemies.
 
Mamousta Abdorrahman Khalifeh Zadeh highlighted Supreme Leader’s remarks with this connection urging people to take the cognizance of their leader’s speech in their lives and cast their vote to counteract foes’ concocted schemes.
 
“It is incumbent upon people to take part in the election with full vigilance and cognition,” underscored the Friday Prayer leader of Boukan while demanding hopefuls to have healthy competition.
 
Elections for the 5th Assembly of Experts as well as the 10th Majlis (parliament) will be held simultaneously on February 26.

The Assembly of Experts is a high-ranking body in Iran, which elects and oversees the activities of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. It is in a position of authority to either appoint or dismiss the Leader.

Members of the Assembly are directly elected to office by people for an eight-year term. The body holds meetings twice a year to exchange viewpoints on major national issues, and every other year to appoint a new chairman.
