AhlulBayt News Agency - On Saturday afternoon in the east Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade) and the Cheetah Forces “Team 3” – imposed full control over several villages inside the Al-Safira Plains while also liberating the strategic Aleppo Thermal Power Plant from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
As a result of this impressive advance by the Syrian Armed Forces, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham now find themselves encircled with no outlet to retreat in both the Al-Safira and Deir Hafer Plains of east Aleppo.
In addition to encircling ISIS in east Aleppo, the Tiger Forces and their allies have liberated the Aleppo Thermal Power Plant, which will prove to be very important in the coming months as the Syrian government looks to restore this facility in order top fix the electricity crisis plaguing the Halabi people.
While the liberation of the Aleppo Thermal Power Plant is great; it is not the most important victory for the Syrian Arab Army.
The Thermal Power Plant’s liberation is just part of a series of victories that culminated into the reopening of the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway, which will provide the Syrian Armed Forces with a 15 km long supply route from the Jibreen District to the Kuweires Military Airport.
Just how significant is this? Well previously, the only major supply route to the Kuweires Military Airport from Aleppo City was approximately 90 km long.
This latest military achievement gives the Syrian Armed Forces the upper-hand in the east Aleppo front and most importantly; it will accelerate their ability to achieve a complete military victory against ISIS in the Al-Safira Plains.
