The militant group of ISIS executed Iraqi journalist and reporter of Saladin TV Adel Saegh in Mosul city of Nineveh province, northwest Iraq, local sources reported on Tuesday.
Saegh was shot dead by an ISIS militant in Qassim Sawas square in Mosul city “on charges of serving anti-ISIS propaganda”, a security official said.
Iraqi security official Zanoun Sabaawi said that the ISIS terrorist group has threatened all journalists and media activists of execution if they report on local developments in the ISIS-held areas.
“Terrorists of Daesh (IS) want all their violations and atrocities against the Iraqi people to go unnoticed. That’s why they intend to prevent reporters from covering local news in places like Mosul,” Sabaawi said.
The Iraqi official said that the decision has been issued by the ISIS-linked Sharia Court in Nineveh province earlier this month, and that the group has subsequently arrested dozens of media activists and journalists “who do not serve the agenda of the alleged caliphate”.
Last week, ISIS militants executed the journalist Sabah Muhammad and photographer waleed Abdullah, who worked for al-Musiliyah channel in Mosul, on charges of violating the group’s regulations.
