Minister of Displacement and Migration , Jassim Mohammed called on Saturday the media and civil society organizations to make the World Refugee Day an opportunity to highlight the issues of refugees and tell the world of their suffering.
Mohammed said in a statement that "Iraq is one of the countries that top the list in terms of the number of the displaced, noting that the displacement within the country may be more severe than emigration," but he also said that "displaced or refugee status in all cases, forced people to go through cruelty conditions to stay away from homeland, this itself is a great loss. "
The minister expressed hope that "the countries of the world pay attention to the size of the tragedy of Iraqi refugees, and to initiate the media and civil society organizations to highlight their issues and inform the world of their suffering."
Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi families have migrated since the mid of last year and so far after ISIS terrorist organization stormed areas north and west of the country.
World Refugee Day is celebrated in this day of every year which is devoted to review the concerns , the issues and problems of refugees and people who left their home countries and to highlight their suffering and discuss ways to provide more aid to them under the auspices of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) of the United Nations.
