Al-Abbas holy shrine distributes food baskets to needy families during Ramadan month (+Photos)

The Department of religious affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has begun distributing food baskets to needy families in a number of Iraqi provinces, as part of its continuous efforts to support those in need, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

The head of the Department, Sheikh Salah al-Karbalai, said that "the Department of Religious Affairs was keen to implement this charitable initiative every season of the month of Ramadan, in line with the directives of the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, in inspecting needy families and meeting the needs of fasting people, especially in this holy month".

He added that"the department allocated 4,000 food rations as part of this campaign, of which 2,000 rations were distributed to needy families in the provinces of Basra, Samawa, Diwaniyah and Hilla, while the remaining rations, numbering about 2,000 rations, were distributed to families in the province of Karbala, including the center and districts, in cooperation with the religious authorities".

"This Meal is the first in a series of assistance that will be followed by other meals in this holy month, "al-Karbalai said, noting that"one food ration consists of 13 basic items, which contributes to providing the needs of needy families.

He explained that"the campaign included the distribution of about 2,000 food rations to religious authority offices and charitable institutions, which in turn deliver them to their beneficiaries from needy families, to enhance the spirit of solidarity and compassion in this holy month".
