AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On Friday, December 27, 2024, the closing ceremony of the International Journalism training course was held in Qom with the presence of Hojat al-Islam Sayed Mofid Hosseini Kouhsari, Deputy for the Communications and International Affairs of the Seminaries.

The feasibility of realizing Islamic journalism

At this ceremony, Hojat al-Islam Hosseini Kouhsari about the realization of international journalism, stated, “Islamic journalism has the potential to be seriously raised and discussed. We can present journalism based on the discourse of pure Islam and the Iranian-Islamic model. Islamic journalism also has the potential to be realized in various fields such as knowledge, attitude, and action. There are fields and topics of science that are intertwined with the fields of international journalism.”

“In the seminary, there are topics in the field of media jurisprudence and news ethics, and there is a lot of work to be done on these topics,” the Deputy for the Communications and International Affairs of the Seminaries added. “Also, in addition to the jurisprudential and legal framework, work can also be done on the position of norms and ethics in international journalism. Islamic journalism is based on strategic studies and a managerial perspective, which can help us achieve our goals and ideals.”

Characteristics of Islamic Journalism

Hosseini Kouhsari about the system of Islamic journalism stated, “Since Islamic journalism is a system of various components such as ethics and the process of reaching it, it can be considered a system. With a set of frameworks and rules, it is possible to define the rules of Islamic journalism. Islamic journalism integrates between honesty and wisdom. That is, what it says is both wise and honest.”

“Islamic journalism brings together transparency and prudence, idealism and realism, avoiding silence and rigidity, steering clear of vulgarity and offensive language, justice and progress, speed and quick responses with depth and logical thinking, a divine outlook and a material view, creativity and talent with empowerment and education, nationalism and global vision, Shiite identity and unity of the Muslim Ummah, and the individual and society,” he added.

The Deputy for Communications and International Affairs of the Seminaries stated that international journalism, especially from the perspective of the Islamic Revolution and the Resistance Front, holds great significance. “In Islamic journalism, Martyr Sayed Hassan Nasrallah is considered a role model, embodying all the characteristics of this form of journalism. Martyr Sayed Hassan Nasrallah was both a man of action and a media figure who adhered to religious principles.”

“I hope the organization of the International Journalism Course paves the way for more serious initiatives in the future. It is also necessary to establish the study of the jurisprudence of journalism and journalism ethics, enabling seminarian brothers to engage seriously with these subjects,” he said at the end of his speech.
