Al-Nujaba: Foreign minister seeks division of Iraq

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA):  In a television interview, Nasr al-Shammari strongly criticized the inaction of Iraqi government institutions in the face of the United States-led aggression, calling the country’s foreign minister a “separatist politician” and called it necessary for the parliament to reprimand the prime minister. 

According to the Communication and Media Affairs Centre of al-‎Nujaba in Iran‎, Nasr al-Shammari, the official spokesman of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement, in an interview with the “al-Murtakaz” television program on Iraq’s al-Etejah television network, criticized Baghdad for its weakness in implementing the act to expel foreign forces from Iraq and said, “What does this delay mean?! One of the commitments of the government of Mustafa al-Kadhimi (Iraq’s interim prime minister) was to implement the resolution of the Council of Representatives but now the United States is attacking the insurgents inside Iraq and openly accepting its responsibility, while our government continues to justify it! So, where is the role of oversight by the parliament? Can’t the parliament summon the prime minister and the security ministers and hold them accountable?”

al-Shammari called on the prime minister to take a clear stand against the criminal and insulting actions of the American occupiers against the Iraqi border guards and said, “The mere fact that convictions have been issued has become embarrassing. Believe me, the enemy is also happy with these useless statements and they say to themselves that nothing happened this time either.”

He said that the Iraqi people and Islamic Resistance groups are engaged in a full-scale war against the occupiers and stated, “I take no responsibility for what I say, and I say that American forces understand nothing but the language of force and blood. Statements of condolence and condemnation do not affect them and they will understand our will only if we consolidate our position by the force of our weapons.”

The spokesman for al-Nujaba described the confrontation with the United States as a “war without borders” and added, “They are targeting us everywhere as if the commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces [Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis] was martyred at Baghdad Airport, which is a symbol of Iraqi sovereignty. We cannot sit idly by and wait for the outcome of the negotiations of politicians who are themselves dependent on the United States.”

al-Shammari continued, “We cannot watch our youths being martyred every day due to the passivity of political institutions, rather, we must target the entire body of the enemy, and so after this, we may see an intensification of anti-American attacks.”
He once again blamed passive and dependent politicians for the current situation and said, “If the four martyrs of the recent attack were Sunni youth, the speaker of parliament would not have remained silent, and if the Peshmerga forces had been targeted instead of Popular Mobilization Forces, the foreign minister would not have taken this position. This minister does not believe in the Iraqi government and sovereignty and seeks the disintegration of the country. I believe that Iraq is suffering from a crisis in the political system, otherwise, the position of the government, the parliament and the Joint Chiefs of Staff would not be so weak.”

The deputy secretary-general of al-Nujaba, while emphasizing that “today, the power of the Islamic Resistance has multiplied and we must respond to every enemy attack with an attack” and noted, “If we don’t, we must constantly witness the recurrence of attacks but if the United States sees that attacking Iraqi forces costs them, they will reconsider their policies. Just as they did when 3,000 American troops took full control of Iraqi territory and imprisoned thousands of Islamic Resistance forces, they were forced to flee the country through a series of counter-occupation operations.”

Asked about the ceasefire between the Islamic Resistance groups and the Americans, al-Shammari said, “I have not heard anything about this from the Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee and I do not think it is true. In regard to what should we establish a ceasefire? The reason for the previous ceasefires was to get an excuse from the Iraqi government, which, of course, was of no use.”

At the end of the conversation with al-Etejah TV, he stated as the official spokesman of al-Nujaba, “The al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement is able to harm all American interests in Iraq, and God-willing, it will do so. The Americans and their friends in the Iraqi government know better than anyone what the Islamic Resistance has achieved.”
