AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): More than 20,000 Muslim worshipers reached the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and performed the Friday prayer in its courtyards, despite the restrictions of the Israeli occupation authorities and the prevention of thousands of Palestinians from accessing the Old City.
The Muslim worshipers spread in the Mosque's courtyards a day after they celebrated the anniversary of Isra and Mi'raj in the Mosque.
The occupation police prevented on Friday morning the Palestinians coming from the West Bank from reaching the Mosque and perform prayers in it.
The Israeli occupation police were deployed at the gates of Al-Aqsa, checked citizens’ ID cards and seized some of them.
During the Friday Khutba (sermon), the preacher of the Al-Aqsa, Sheikh Ekremah Sabri stressed the religious significance of Jerusalem and the land of Palestine and that all Muslims are accountable for this land.
He lashed out at the Jewish settlers’ attempts to perform Talmudic prayers in the Aqsa Mosque, especially in its eastern area, and held the occupation authorities full responsibility for such violations and for their consequences.
Sheikh Sabri also rejected the law prohibiting the call to prayer and considered it illegal. “The call to prayer will continue to be heard at the Al-Aqsa Mosque”, he affirmed.
