(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Turkish-backed rebels scored a major advance in the Afrin region this past weekend after an intense battle with the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).
Led by the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the Turkish-backed rebels managed to capture the strategic Sheikh Hadid District of Afrin, following the complete withdrawal of the YPG forces.
According to pro-opposition activists, the Turkish-backed rebels seized the entire Sheikh Hadid District, which consists of several small towns, including Mistekan, Arandi, Hajj Khalil, and Halili.
The Turkish-backed rebels are now working to fully secure the road linking the provincial capital of Idlib and the northern Aleppo city of ‘Azaz.
