ISIS claims responsibility for suicide attack in Iraq's Karbala

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - ISIS has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s suicide bombing at a wedding in Karbala province, south of capital Baghdad.

In a statement published on Amaq News Agency that is affiliated with ISIS, the extremist group said the attack was carried out by four members of the organization to attack a gathering of Shi’ites.

Late on Sunday, a series of suicide bombings rocked a wedding celebration in al-Tamr district of west of Kerbala, killing at least 16 people with dozens more injured.

The district is know for its Shi’ite shrines that attack many pilgrims.

Iraqi officials previously said the attack was carried out by five suicide bombers.

The Shi’ite districts in central Iraq are frequently being targeted by the terrorists of ISIS.
