Kyrgyzstan banned ISIS, called it as a terrorist group

The Islamic State extremist organization has been banned in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz National Security Committee told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The national security authorities together with the Prosecutor's General Office sent a suit to court seeking the recognition of the Islamic State as a terrorist and extremist organization in order to fight against and prevent extremism and terrorism in the country," the Kyrgyz National Security Committee said in a statement.

The Oktyabrsky district court in Bishkek recognized the activity of IS as terrorist and extremist and banned it on the Kyrgyz territory, the statement reads.

The court ruling took effect on March 16.

Many countries around the world, including Russia, have already recognized the IS as an terrorist organization.
