Image / Martyrs Day Observed in Kashmir

Martyrs day is being observed every year on July 13, in Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate those killed by the autocratic Dogra rulers in 1931. It was on this day in 1931 when the Dogra troops shot dead around 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside the Central Jail in Srinagar. They had gathered in the jail premises to attend the court proceedings against one, Abdul Qadeer, who had asked the Kashmiri people to defy Dogra rule.
