(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya said his government does not count on the current visit of US secretary of state John Kerry and warned the Palestinian Authority (PA) of falling into the trap of the peace process once again.
In remarks on Friday, premier Haneyya stated that Kerry cannot have a peace project for the Palestinians because his administration supports the Israeli positions and acts according to the Zio-American strategies.
Haneyya demanded de facto president Mahmoud Abbas to renounce the peace process and work on building a national strategy to restore unity, resist the occupation, and politically move to rally support for the Palestinian cause in the Arab and international arenas.
Abbas met on Friday with Kerry in Amman and explored with him new avenues to break the stalemate in the peace process.
In a related context, Amin Shuman, director of the high follow-up committee for prisoners' affairs, revealed that there are secret talks between PA negotiators and their Israeli counterparts to discuss the release of some veteran prisoners as a Palestinian precondition for the launch of the peace talks.
Shuman stated that there are, however, moves by right-wing Knesset members to pass a law curtailing the authority of the Israeli president Shimon Peres to give amnesty to Palestinian prisoners and thus preventing the Israeli government from releasing detainees as a goodwill gesture to the PA.
