KARACHI, Pakistan (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Allama Syed Baqir Zaidi, a prominent Shia leader survived a bid on life as his bodyguard took most of the hits to die later during what could be said to be yet another heinous act of targeted sectarian shooting by Sipah-e-Sahaba.
He came under attack while traveling in Liaquatabad Unit 4 on Saturday afternoon.
Sources said Sipah-e-Sahaba men armed with assault rifles suddenly intercepted his car and fired quick bursts hitting all occupants in it before making their gateway.
All the casualties were rushed to the hospital, but the emergency room doctors could not save Allama Zaidi’s bodyguard.
Zaidi and his driver are under treatment in the hospital, however a word on their condition is yet to be received.
Karachi has so far witnessed at least six shooting related fatalities.
A Shia shot martyred in Karachi in a targeted attack by Sipah-e-Sahaba
A Shia man 'Hassan Kashmiri' was shot martyred in a targeted attack by outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba in New Golimar area of Karachi on Saturday.
Notorious terrorists of Sipah-e-Sahaba ambushed Hassan Kashmiri outside of his house.
Hassan Kashmiri was an active Shia member and worked for the community.
His murder evoked stiff protest as the residents of the area came o streets and the shops were closed in the areas of Gulbahar, Khamosh Colony, Rizvia Society and Nazimabad Chowrangi.
Shia parties and leaders have condemned the targeted murder of Hassan Kashmiri and demanded immediate arrest of his killers.
