(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The B'Tselem human rights organization demanded that the Israeli occupation army to completely cease the unacceptable policy of using dogs to attack Palestinian civilians.
The organization said in a recently released report: "during 2011-2012, B’Tselem documented the use of dogs not only at demonstrations but also in other circumstances", noting that dogs were used during the arrest of Palestinians who tried to enter the Palestinian occupied territories without valid work permits, and also "during a search inside a home in which civilians were present."
"The use of attack dogs is threatening, dangerous, and uncontrollable, and could result in severe and disproportionate harm to unarmed civilians," said B'Tselem, stressing that "the civilians attacked by army dogs in the cases documented were not endangering the soldiers and could have been detained nonviolently."
It is noted that military dogs have been also used at the checkpoints for searching the Palestinian citizens.
Meanwhile, many international human rights bodies have sharply criticized the Zionist occupation authorities’ way of using the trained dogs against Palestinians, as many cases in which military dogs had attacked and injured civilians have been documented.
