(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are coordinating moves for holding a joint important conference on the “Problem of Refugees in Muslim World” in the second week of May, 2012 at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.Preparatory details were discussed, an OIC report Saturday says, in the Jeddah secretariat of the OIC among Assistant Secretary General of OIC on Humanitarian Affairs, Turkmenistan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and UNHCR Regional Chief on Feb 8, 2012.It was a follow-up action on the recently held bilateral meeting between OIC Secretary General Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and UNHCR Commissioner. Over 400 delegates from all over the world are expected to attend the May 10-11, 2012, global Ashgabat conference.A joint OIC-UNHCR delegation will be visiting Turkmenistan by the end of February 2012 to have discussions with Turkmen authorities so as to finalize all arrangements and operational modalities which will contribute to the success of the long awaited first-ever international conference on the issue of refugees in OIC Member States, the report adds. /129
