(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali, a government prosecutor, told Reuters on Saturday "They have been charged with conspiracy as well as abetment in the murder."
The seven men were indicted in a hearing held behind closed door in the city of Rawalpindi for security reasons.
Another prosecutor Mohammad Azhar said the police officers were charged with breach of security by “changing the security plan for Benazir Bhutto.”
He added that the five alleged Taliban militants were also charged with “criminal conspiracy” for bringing a bomber to Rawalpindi where he carried out the attack.
In December 2007, Bhutto was killed in a gun-and-bomb attack as she was leaving an election rally in Rawalpindi. A gunman reportedly shot her in the neck and set off a bomb, which killed at least 20 other people.
