(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The 9th Imam Reza International Festival is slated to be started simultaneously across the globe on September 29, 2011, said Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini.
The event will present more than 200,000 artworks, including calligraphies, paintings and abstract art works, as well as poetry inspired by the life and teachings of the holy Imam.
The festival will also showcase computer software, movies and books during a ten-day program.
The 8th Shia leader, Imam Reza (PBUH), was born in Medina and is widely known for his extraordinary scholarship and saintly characteristics.
He is remembered today for his many outstanding qualities including his all-encompassing knowledge, kindness towards slaves, unshakable faith and nobility.
The closing ceremony of the festival will be held at the holy shrine of Imam Reza in the Iranian city of Mashhad.
