An official source on Friday said an armed group opened fire from rooftops on hundreds of citizens and security forces in Douma city, killing a number of citizens and security forces and wounding dozens.

Damascus (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - An official source on Friday said an armed group opened fire from rooftops on hundreds of citizens and security forces in Douma city, killing a number of citizens and security forces and wounding dozens.

The source added that the security forces are pursuing the members of the armed group that terrorized the citizens through firing randomly.

Many residents in Douma recounted that armed groups and some other groups also toured the city with the aim of incitement and sedition, terrorizing people and firing randomly at gatherings.

Lawyer Yasser Sireol from Douma said that the armed group roamed the city on motorbikes and opened fire randomly, adding that residents arrested some of the group's members and handed them over to the security.

Hassan al-Basha, from Douma, said that a number of gunmen climbed to the buildings' roofs and opened fire on citizens in the streets, adding that his cousin was killed by the gang while he was closing his shop before heading home, "Other people were wounded", he added.

Hassan Najjar, a student from the city, said that groups of foreigners rioted in the city this afternoon and incited people to demonstrate, adding that "There were some gatherings in the city, and they were not peaceful…Their intention to riot was evident, but the residents didn't respond ".

Another resident said, "I saw armed people shooting on security forces while they were exiting from their cars…. Security forces didn't use weapons and it was clear that they were trying to contain the situation…some of those people attacked the security forces by knives".

In Homs city, an armed group shot on people in al-Bayyadah area, killing a girl.

In Daraa, a guard in a military unit was shot by an armed group after trying to seize his weapon. The guard was critically wounded in the chest and there was an exchange of fire which resulted in wounding at least one of the attackers.
