SARAJEVO, BiH (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On 14th of January the exhibition of calligraphic art work by Meliha Teparić was opened at Collegium Artisticom.

The exhibition “Testimony of Beauty” was opened with the introductions by two professors from the Fine Art Academy in Sarajevo: Seid Hasanefendić and Ćazim Hadžimejlić. Exhibited works are a contemporary interpretation of Islamic calligraphy, namely Kufi script.

In her works the Islamic calligraphy is presented in two ways, as an expressive abstract form and as a written text. Melissa Teparić approaches that in different ways and through different media and techniques. In addition to paintings on canvas, she exhibited the calligraphic sculptures and wooden constructions in which the angular form of Kufi script is emphasized.

This exhibition shows how a classical Islamic art can be interpreted through the contemporary visual language and it will be opened until 20.01.2011.
