The prayer invoking God Almighty in supplication for rains descending on earth is performed as per the tradition of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
The prayers were offered on Saturday in various mosques in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Ali Al Hashimi, Religious and Judicial Adviser at the Presidential Court, led the prayers at Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi and gave a sermon, in which he said that no trial will descent without a sin as it will not be lifted without repentance.
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, offered prayer for rain at the Al-Badie prayer grounds.
Sheikh Abdullah Mohammed Al Hamadi led the prayers, after which he gave a sermon calling on the people deepen their faith in God and ask for forgiveness for any sins.
Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi offered prayer at the Eid prayer grounds.
Sheikh Nashwan Al Hashimi led the prayers in Ajman, after which he gave a sermon calling on the people to get closer to God through piety, virtue and relentless worship.
Crown Prince of Fujairah Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi prayed at the Omer Bin Abdelaziz Mosque in Fujairah.
Sheikh Abdullah Al Sa'adi led the prayers, after which he gave a sermon calling on the people to purify their hearts through piety and ask for mercy from God Almighty.
A number of Sheikhs, senior officials and a large number of worshipers including citizens and residents also joined the Rulers in the rain prayers.
