"The idea of Turkey serving as a place where gatherings can take place, where representation can be established in order to facilitate reconstruction and reintegration has been discussed," Karzai said at a press briefing in Istanbul.
"If Turkey can be kind enough to provide such a venue we, the government of Afghanistan, will be happy and pleased to see this facilitation take place," he added.
Karzai recently formed a peace council to lead talks with the Taliban, electing Afghanistan's former President Burhanuddin Rabbani as chairman of the council.
The newly-established peace council has been attempting to make overtures to discontented Afghans and militants who have engaged in warfare with the government.
However, the recent negotiations suffered a serious setback after Karzai's aides revealed that the Afghan president had been talking to a Taliban imposter who was brought to the sensitive government meetings by British diplomats.
The Taliban have publicly said they will not enter into dialogue with the Afghan government until all 152,000 US-led foreign troops based in the country leave.
Despite the presence of some 150,000 NATO forces, the violence and daily militant attacks have not subsided in war-ravaged Afghanistan.
The move comes as the increase in the number of deaths among NATO forces together with the heavy civilian casualties have given rise to a marked intensification of global opposition to the US-led mission in the war-wracked country.
