REY, Iran (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A Quran recitation session was held Wednesday night through Thursday morning (the day of Ashura) at Al-Mahdi Mosque in the city of Rey.
Organized by the city’s Quran reciters society, the program was attended by a large number of mourners of Imam Hussein (AS).
Internationally known Quran reciters of the city of Rey recited verses from the holy Quran during the program, which was very well received by the audience.
There were also elegy recitations on the occasion of Ashura (anniversary of the day when Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions were martyred in Karbala in the year 680 A.D.).
Elsewhere in the program, preachers elaborated on the Ashura uprising and its objectives.
