(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Two militants including a Taliban leader have been killed in a joint Afghan-NATO raid in eastern Afghanistan, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says.
Troops entered a compound where they had received intelligence that it was the hiding place of a Taliban leader, identified as Fedahi.
During the late Saturday raid in eastern Wardak province, Fedahi, who has been involved in weapons smuggling and attacks in the province, was killed along with another Taliban gunman, the coalition added in a statement.
No civilians were harmed in the operation, the statement added.
Meanwhile, a leader of the Haqani network, a Pakistani-based Taliban faction, was captured in another joint NATO- Afghan raid in eastern Khost province Saturday night.
The targeted militant who was captured in a compound in the Terayzai district has been the 30th Haqani network member captured since November 1, 2010.
The Haqqani group is listed by Washington as a terrorist organization.
It has already admitted to an assassination attempt against President Karzai in April 2008.
The militant group is also believed to have been behind a deadly blast outside the Indian embassy in Kabul two years ago.
