(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - European Union foreign ministers on Monday stressed commitment to the UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), tasked with probing the assassination of ex-premier Rafiq Hariri as well as to the national-unity government in Lebanon.

The conferees issued a joint statement expressing “concern” at intimidations and condemned attempts to hinder the work of the STL. "The council of EU ministers is convinced that achieving international justice on the killing of Rafiq Hariri and others, and preserving stability in Lebanon are mutually reinforcing," the statement added.

The conferees also reaffirmed "full support for the government of national unity led by PM Saad Hariri, established in the wake of democratic elections."
