Moscow (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Prefect of the South-East Moscow District Vladimir Zotov declined to confirm information about the construction of a mosque in the Tekstilschiki district.
"Currently, there is no mosque construction underway or being planned. We have begun looking for another site to construct this religious property as far back as October this year," Zotov told Interfax on Wednesday.
According to him, any construction project involves several phases: site selection, project design development, engaging local citizens to make public improvements, and project documents development.
"There were no assignments made to develop any project documentation, however, some social groups show a great interest in this project," Zotov said.
The plans of the Muslim community to put up a mosque in the Tekstilschiki district triggered multiple protests by local citizens who even addressed President asking him to prevent this construction.
