LAHORE (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Three people were gunned down over funds collection for an under construction seminary being constructed near Faisal Park in Harbanspura police precincts on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Tanveer Mehmood (40), Abdul Rasheed (50) and his cousin Liaqat Ali (45).

The neighbours revealed both rival parties had been enjoying cordial relations since long before this untoward incident pushed them away from each other.

Police investigators said Danish, Bilal and Murtaza with other people, during their door-to-door fundraising campaign, were collecting funds for the under construction six-storey Jamia Masjid Bilal. At about 10:30 am on Sunday, when they knocked at the doors of their relatives namely Tanveer Mehmood and Shafqat Mehmood and requested for funds from Mohammad Ashraf, father of Tanveer, he allegedly abused them, claiming he was the real custodian of the mosque and had the right to collect funds.

Hearing the remarks Danish pushed him back as a result of which he fell down,” sources close to the police investigators said. In the meantime, family members of both the parties came out of their home and started quarrelling with each other.

An eyewitness woman, requesting anonymity, said the elders from each side actually desired to be the caretakers for the aforesaid mosque and wanted to collect funds, which created rift between them. Another neighbour said cost of the said project amounted to Rs 100 million and both parties claimed they were the real custodians of the mosque.
