Street Presence; An Example of ‘Momentous Matter’ in Quran

“Amr Jami’ (Momentous Matter)” in the Holy Quran is any important work that requires the cooperation and presence of the people, and it is not permissible for anyone to leave the scene without the permission of the leader.

ABNA24 -  “Amr Jami’ (Momentous Matter)” in the Holy Quran is any important work that requires the cooperation and presence of the people, and it is not permissible for anyone to leave the scene without the permission of the leader.

During the Battle of Khandaq (the Trench), when the Prophet (PBUH) was digging a trench with a large group of Muslims, the hypocrites would go to their homes without even looking at the Muslims. While the true Muslims would ask the Prophet (PBUH) for permission and return as soon as what they had gone away to do was finished.

The Holy Quran, in Verse 62 of Surah An-Nur, criticizes the first group: “Only those are believers who believe in Allah and His Messenger, and when they are with him on a momentous affair they go not away until they have asked his permission.”

The meaning of “momentous matter” is any important matter that requires the gathering of people and their cooperation and collaboration is necessary; therefore, for any important matter that the leadership deems necessary for the presence of all the believing people to solve, it is not permissible for anyone to leave the scene without the permission of the leadership.

The verse continues: “surely they who ask your permission are they who believe in Allah and His Messenger; so when they ask your permission for some affair of theirs, give permission to whom you please of them and ask forgiveness for them from Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful”

This verse emphasizes the inseparability of faith with the permission of the Wali of Allah. The expression “affairs of theirs” in the verse means that this permission is only for important matters.

The Prophet (PBUH) also gave permission by considering the aspects of the matter and the effects of the presence of individuals. Although they are permissible, they need to seek forgiveness and mercy for giving priority to personal work over collective work.

One example of the momentous matter in Islamic Iran is the magnificent presence of people in the streets, which has led to the defeat of the conspiracies of the enemies and the encouragement of the warriors present in the field, and being absent in the scene without good reason is not permissible.
