Palestinian child martyred in Tamoun by Mahmoud Abbas forces gunfire

The Committee of Families of Political Detainees issued a statement condemning what it described as a serious crime committed by Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces in the town of Tamoun, south of Tubas.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Committee of Families of Political Detainees issued a statement condemning what it described as a serious crime committed by Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces in the town of Tamoun, south of Tubas.

The incident resulted in the killing of a child, Yazan Samara, the son of Samer Samara, who is wanted by Israeli forces, and the serious injury of his young sister, who was shot in the head when their vehicle was directly targeted.

In its statement released Sunday, the committee said the incident reflects a systematic policy of pursuing individuals wanted by Israeli forces, even at the cost of Palestinian lives, in what it described as an effort to maintain security coordination amid escalating attacks by Israeli forces and settlers across the occupied West Bank.

The committee stated that the continuation of such security practices represents a dangerous deviation from national priorities, placing security forces in confrontation with their own people rather than protecting them.

It held fully responsible all parties who issued orders, carried out, or provided political cover for the incident, adding that attempts to justify the shooting as a routine security measure do not change the fact that Palestinian blood was shed as a result of a decision to pursue an individual wanted by Israel.

The committee called for an immediate halt to the policy of pursuing such individuals and demanded the release of political detainees held over resistance activities, political affiliation, or freedom of expression.

It concluded by stressing that “the blood of our people is not expendable, and it is unacceptable for policies to continue targeting those resisting occupation while leaving the occupation and its settlers unchallenged.”

Separately, the Hamas Movement described the incident as a new “black mark” on the record of the PA security forces, accusing them of turning against their own people instead of ensuring their protection.

In a statement, Hamas said the killing of the child and the critical injury of his sister following direct gunfire at their vehicle highlight the dangerous consequences of repressive policies, particularly at a time when Palestinians in the West Bank face intensified attacks by Israeli forces and settlers.

The Movement warned of the potential impact of such actions on Palestinian social cohesion and held the PA leadership fully responsible for the consequences.

Hamas also called for accountability for those involved, the immediate release of all political detainees, and an end to the pursuit of Palestinians. It further urged efforts to strengthen national unity and consolidate internal ranks in confronting ongoing challenges.
