AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Army’s 550th Regiment of the 4th Mechanized Division foiled a terrorist attack along the Ithriya-Salamiyah Road on Sunday morning after local scouts sighted several ISIS fighters crossing through the desert terrain.
Before the ISIS fighters could attack the nearest Syrian Army position, a terrorist launched a VBIED (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) towards a government checkpoint along the Ithriya-Salamiyah Road.
Luckily, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to destroy the vehicle before the VBIED could reach its intended target.
Following the ISIS’ failed VBIED attack, they found themselves as the recipient of a number of airstrikes from the Syrian Air Force (SAAF) near the town of ‘Uqayrbat.
The Syrian Army has confirmed that the Ithriya-Salamiyah Road is completely secure and will be reopened soon.
