On their way fleeing the ISIS territories, a civilian family was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) near Kirkuk, Northern Iraq.
The director of the Kirkuk Police Sarhad Qadir confirmed that a 15-year-old girl was injured on Friday while she was escaping ISIS.
She was accompanying her family when was hit by an IED planted by IS; they were seeking safety in the Peshmerga controlled areas near Tel al-Ward.
Qadir said that the Kurdish Peshmerga forces rescued the girl and her family, and she is now receiving medical treatment in Kirkuk.
Exhausted by IS atrocities, mass arrests and arbitrary executions, civilians are constantly risking their lives to find a safe haven outside the IS territories.
