AhlulBayt News Agency - In less than one year, the second hospital built by Iran as a gift and humanitarian aid from the people and the government of Iran to their Pakistani friends, has been inaugurated in Pakistan’s Sindh province.
Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Counsel General of Iran at Karachi, Mehdi Subhani inaugurated 30 bed Al-Farabi hospital in Keti Bandar area of district Thatta.
In August 2015 Iran inaugurated another 40-bed hospital in Khairpur area of Sindh province.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Pakistan and Iran were old and reliable friends having centuries old religious and cultural bonds.
He conveyed his gratitude to the Counsel General of Iran at Karachi, Mehdi Subhani, on completion of a modern 30 bed hospital at a remote area in a short span of time and termed it a gift of Iran for the poor people of the area.
He said that Iran had established more hospitals in Sindh particularly in less developed areas of the province on which leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party was thankful to government of Iran.
He lauded the social services extended by Islamic Republic of Iran to the people of Sindh.
The CM said that the Al-Farabi hospital was constructed to provide better health care to women and children. He urged the Iranian Counsel General to establish such state of the art hospitals at Islamkot and Nangar Parkar areas of Tharparkar district.
Addressing the occasion, Iranian counsel general said Al-Farabi hospital project was continuity of cordial relations of both the countries and a gift from Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei.
He said in short time of seven months it was second hospital presented to people of Sindh while the first hospital established at Khairpur was extending health care facilities to over 17 thousand people of the area.
He lauded the cooperation of Sindh government for timely completion of the projects and said that Iran was committed to assist Pakistan in reinforcing its security, solidarity and progress.
Deputy commissioner Thatta Tahir Hussain Sangi briefed that the hospital was completed with a cost of Rs. 150 million and it was equipped with a operation theater, laboratory, gynae ward, residential facilities for doctors and staff and other health facilities.
He said that over 40 thousand population of Keti bandar, Gharho, Baghan and surrounding areas would benefit from the hospital.
