AhlulBayt News Agency - A large convoy of Iraqi paramilitary fighters and Russian Marines departed from the Mediterranean coastal city of Latakia on Sunday to Syria’s economic capital in the north, Aleppo, as part of an expeditionary force under the command of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
This large convoy of Russians and Iraqis heading to the Aleppo Governorate was mixed with several armored vehicles and transport buses.
On Sunday morning, the Syrian Prime Minister, Dr. Wa’el Al-Halaqi, announced that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Russian Air Force were preparing for a major military operation to liberate Aleppo from the militant groups fighting inside of this large city.
The latest mobilization of military personnel to this front seems to be in line with the Syrian premier’s announcement on Sunday.
In addition to the arrival of reinforcements, the prominent Syrian military commander of the Tiger Forces (Qawat Al-Nimr), Colonel Suheil Al-Hassan, is now leading the Syrian Army infantry in northern Alepoo; this decision was reportedly made by the Russian military command.
Currently, there is no set date for this large-scale Aleppo offensive; however, it is expected to start soon.
