Syria: ISIS launches counter-offensive at Al-Shadadi

On Sunday morning in the Al-Hasakah Governorate’s southern countryside, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a counter-offensive at the recently captured city of Al-Shadadi, where they hoped to reclaim the territory they lost to the U.S. backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) the day before.

AhlulBayt News Agency - On Sunday morning in the Al-Hasakah Governorate’s southern countryside, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a counter-offensive at the recently captured city of Al-Shadadi, where they hoped to reclaim the territory they lost to the U.S. backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) the day before.

Initially, ISIS was successful near Al-Shadadi, capturing several sites located at the southern perimeter of the city.

However, once they approached Al-Shadadi’s gates, they were met with fierce resistance from the Syrian Democratic Forces and their allies, who were unwilling to concede anymore territory to the terrorist group.

Despite reports from social media activists representing ISIS, the aforementioned terrorist group did not enter the city and they did not capture the southern district like some reports indicated.

Earlier this morning, ISIS reportedly struck Al-Shadadi once again, resulting in another series of clashes at the city’s southern flank.
