Syrian Grand Mufti Hails Iran's Support for Muslim World

Syria's Grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun hailed Iran's constructive role in bringing unity to the world Muslims.

"Iran is supporting Islam against the enemies' threats and the country is standing up against Israel," Sheikh Hassoun said on Friday.

The Syrian grand mufti, meantime, appreciated Iran's diplomatic efforts at the international bodies, specially in the recent Vienna and New York talks, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran's role is the source of hope for the Syrian people."

Iran has supported the Syrian people and government since the very first days of terrorists' attacks against the Muslim nation by sending humanitarian aids and military advisors.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem in a meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader's top Adviser for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati late November appreciated Tehran for its efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

During the meeting in Damascus, Muallem also lauded Iran for helping his country in its ongoing fight against terrorism.

"The effective campaign of the Syrian Army, the Russian Air Force, and the other true regional allies of the Syrian nation also made clear to everyone which party is truly fighting against the terrorists in Syria," the Syrian foreign minister said.
