Israeli forces have killed three more Palestinians in separate incidents across the occupied West Bank over allegations that they tried to attack them.
In the first incident on Thursday, a Palestinian was shot dead at an entrance to an industrial zone at the illegal Israeli Ariel settlement, the biggest in the north of the West Bank.
Israeli police accused him of stabbing two guards, saying they sustained moderate injuries.
The second Palestinian was killed near the city of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the southern West Bank. He is said to have tried to attack Israeli soldiers with a screwdriver, but no injuries among Israelis have been reported.
“A Palestinian armed with a screwdriver approached a checkpoint near Hebron and attempted to stab security forces,” the Israeli military said in a statement. “The forces responded to the imminent threat, thwarted the attack and shot the perpetrator, resulting in his death.”
In the third shooting, Israeli troops killed a Palestinian youth who allegedly ran over a soldier with his car in the Adam settlement, also known as Geva Binyamin, and left him injured.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has voiced concerns over the excessive use of force and “extrajudicial killing” of Palestinians by Israeli forces. The body says that the circumstances surrounding several of the Palestinian deaths over the past weeks remain disputed.
At least 133 Palestinians have been killed in the recent escalation of violence since the start of October.
