Iraqi security forces have arrested an ISIS commander in Diyala province, eastern Iraq.
According to local media, the unnamed ISIS commander was captured by Iraqi special forces after a one hour-long operation in the Hamrin mountains on Saturday December 12th.
A source revealed that the arrestee is originally from Hawija, and was responsible for reorganizing ISIS militants across Salahaddin and Diyala provinces.
The commander was stationed at a military base located in mountainous areas of Hamrin, the source added.
With ISIS facing regular defeats recently, insurgents are apparently attempting to escape. The terrorist group is struggling to reorganise and encourage its militants to return to battlefields.
